Have you ever wanted a house in the mountains and take it with you as you go to explore other parts of the earth? If yes, then “Fincube” can be a dream-come-true to you. This brilliant house is originally built at an altitude of 1200 meters near Bozen, Italy, by the German company Studio Aisslinger, but the most amazing thing about it is that it can be disassembled and rebuilt at a different location. It is also environmentally friendly: it consumes relatively low energy and has minimal CO2 footprint.
From the outside, this innovative house looks almost like a pill with stripes of wood forming a cage around it, but it is actually a 47 sq m cube which is designed just like a small apartment in the city. The interior is minimalistic, stressing more on functionality and effective use of space. There is almost no decoration at all.
The kitchen, dining room, and sitting room are joined together in one seamless space. The space is not very wide, but with the simplicity of the interior design, it manages to look comfortable and not overcrowded. The kitchen counters take up one side of the room, and in front of it is a huge table that can be used both as a dining table and a work desk. The counters, table, floor, and ceiling are all made of pale wood, making the place looks more airy and bright. Beside the table is a one modern-style black chair, and above the table hangs a circular black lamp with some line patterns cut into it, probably the only item in this house that provides decoration as well as function. The sofa of the sitting room is maroon, and behind it stands a bookshelf, also made of pale wood. The sofa faces a glass wall that overlooks a nice view of the mountain. This wall stretches along the entire sitting-dining space, so you will get enough sunlight to not turn on the lamps.
The bedroom is similarly minimalistic. It has one black-and-white double bed in it and a white cupboard beside the bed. Above it is a rectangular night lamp attached to the wall. Connected to this bedroom is a bathroom that looks quite spacious. Overall, this house is not only unique, practical, and brilliantly constructed, but it is also a comfortable and functional living space.
