This wonderful apartment is located in Sweden and is a perfect blend between contemporary and old design styles. It is rather sparsely furnished, which makes it feel airy and spacious. The decorations and furnishing in some of the rooms look somewhat unruly, but somehow this only makes the apartment look even more attractive in a casual and natural way. Warmth and a pleasant brightness are also created by the white walls and wooden flooring.
The center space is the most spacious, and also the most sparsely furnished. There is a coat hanger by the door, a leather bench, a low bookshelf with a brick-lined fireplace beside it. All of these are put right by the wall, while the center of the room is left empty but for some fluffy rugs. A potted green plant stands on the floor, and two more on the bookshelf and the mantelpiece.Opposite the fireplace is a reading area consisting of a modern-looking leather armchair, a floor lamp beside it, and a little wooden table with a vase of flowers on it. Two piles of book are left lying on the floor, and one of the walls is decorated with pictures hanging from a string. These two elements are the ones creating the untidy look I’ve talked about.
The study is even more untidy. There are more unframed pictures pasted somewhat haphazardly on the walls, and also frames and canvases on the floor, leaning against the wall. The desk is made of white-painted wood and is rather small. In place of an office chair, there is only a black plastic stool standing by the desk. A bin full of rolled paper is placed on the floor beside it. There is a chair by the window with a reading lamp on the window sill, so you can sit and read here while enjoying the beautiful view of the neighborhood from outside the window, but the chair looks too rudimentary and not very comfortable. However, this somewhat unsophisticated furnishing and decoration manage to create a friendly, welcoming, and approachable feelthat some super neat and fastidious living spaces fail to accomplish.
The other rooms of the apartment exude the same warmth and friendliness, although they are decidedly neater than the previous two rooms I mentioned. You can find many more bookshelves and reading spaces in this home, and my favorite is the reading space in the balcony, the one that consists of a wooden folding chair draped by furry white blanket, and a table on which is placed a wicker basket containing flowers. This space looks so cozy and stylish—although still a little untidy—just like the rest of this wonderful apartment.
